Its resistance to sensitization, coupled with its higher strength at high temperature makes Stainless Steel 321 Hydraulic Fittings suitable in application where SS 304 will become sensitized, or where SS 304L has insufficient hot strength. Titanium acts as a stabilizer because the carbon has more affinity to it than it has to the chromium, thus titanium carbide in Stainless Steel 321H Hydraulic Fittings is formed instead and the chromium is unaffected giving the material optimum corrosion resistance.
Whilst retaining good strength and corrosion resistance when exposed to high temperatures, our 321 Stainless Steel Hydraulic Fittings like most austenitic grades will also maintain its strength and toughness at sub-zero temperatures. However, long term exposure in these 321H Stainless Steel Hydraulic Fittings to temperatures between 900 ° F – 1500 ° F (482 ° C – 816 ° C) may reduce its overall general corrosion resistance but remains improved compared to unstabilized grades.
In order to provide optimum resistance in our Alloy 321 Hydraulic Fittings to inter-granular corrosion and to polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking in service temperatures at 1500 ° F -1650 ° F an air cool may be used. These Alloy 321H Hydraulic Fittings is non-heat treatable and non-magnetic in the annealed condition.
