In the 800- 1500 degree Fahrenheit temperature range where it is stabilized with the addition of niobium austenitic against chromium carbide precipitation this grade is used typically.
After exposure to this range of temperature type 347H has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance. This grade also has excellent higher creep and ruptures resistance properties and resists oxidation up to 1500 degree F. In the annealed condition it is non-magnetic and also shows good low-temperature toughness. By adding the columbium and tantalum this material is stabilized against chromium carbide formation process. Since these elements have a stronger affinity for carbon than chromium instead of forming at the grain boundaries, columbium- tantalum carbides precipitate within the grains.
